Leading power electronics manufacturer SEMIKRON and Silicon Mobility, a provider of digital control solutions for electrified powertrains, today announced the launch of a 24V to 96V inverter platform for automotive battery-powered vehicles and industrial off-road vehicles. The inverter platform provides power from 10KW to 50KW and combines SEMIKRON SKAI® 3 LV inverter and Silicon Mobility OLEA® inverter and motor control solutions.

On the one hand, SEMIKRON’s ultra-compact MOSFET inverter system provides SKAI® 3 LV, power supplies and components with advanced integrated MOSFET modules with connected DC links, gate drivers, protection functions and sensors. It is equipped with a complete high-performance power supply solution for 3-phase motor drives and an off-the-shelf power supply section, which can shorten the time to market. All of these are presented in a customized enclosure to provide an ultra-compact MOSFET inverter. The third-generation SKAI LV industrial MOSFET inverter constitutes the seventh-generation inverter technology manufactured by Simi Controls, with more than 1.5 million MOSFET inverters in this field. The third generation is a platform concept that provides a standard design version or can be customized to meet the needs of users. The converter can be easily connected to a custom control board for quick and easy design, while giving control to the customer.

On the other hand, the highly configurable and intuitive control solution Silicon Mobility offers OLEA® COMPOSER-SKAI3 LV's T222 starter kit, the digital control and software aspects of the platform. It includes a reference control board integrated with OLEA® T222 FPCU, a powerful control chip, and OLEA® APP INVERTER, a control software application for SKAI 3 LV inverter power modules, which is fully configurable to support various three Phase PMSM and WRSM motors and position sensors. The application uses Field Oriented Control (FoC) and Variable Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) algorithms from 2kHz to 100kHz to provide efficient and safe torque and speed management. It also includes many configurable safety mechanisms for fault detection and reaction, such as overcurrent, overvoltage, and overheating. Thanks to its native ASAM standard support, calibration and verification are enabled. The starter kit also includes vehicle-related software demonstration code, post-build measurement, configuration, calibration and firmware update GUI software.

The quick start-up and customized open combination solutions for rapid system development enable users to access an optimized, first-class, and complete sketched power supply + control inverter platform. Both SEMIKRON and Silicon Mobility provide ready-to-use services that can help customers grasp the solution immediately to achieve rapid prototyping and development of any industrial or automotive system. The platform can be accessed as a white box, and users can customize the power module packaging/shell from SEMIKRON according to requirements, and access the OLEA APP INVERTER object code through a special license.

Karl-Heinz Gaubatz, CEO of Semikron, said: "With Silicon Mobility, the technology leader in ultra-fast control solutions, it has formed a high-quality, high-performance solution for low-voltage vehicle applications. Perfect match." "Through this platform, we provide low-voltage car manufacturers with technologies and solutions far higher than today's most advanced implementations, providing additional advantages for their designs."

Rainer Kallenbach, CEO of Silicon Mobility, said: "Together with SEMIKRON, a recognized world leader in the power module field, we combine control technology and power electronic systems to provide a unique platform with high adaptability and customization. And it will not affect performance and quality." By choosing this platform, automakers can accelerate the electrification of their vehicles and provide themselves with the possibility of future differentiation. "

Customers can immediately access Silicon Mobility and SEMIKRON and start testing them immediately.
