BorgWarner won the largest silicon carbide inverter and the first silicon carbide inverter in North America
BorgWarner has signed a contract with a major original equipment manufacturer to provide high-voltage inverters for pure electric vehicle (BEV) platforms including various passenger cars and trucks. The commercial award marks the company's largest silicon carbide-based (SiC) inverter win and the first North American silicon carbide-based inverter win.

The inverter utilizes BorgWarner's Viper series of scalable power modules and is made of SiC material to achieve excellent efficiency. Compared with traditional inverter technology, these specific functions allow higher voltage operation and higher current density.
BorgWarner's inverter performance and scalability, cost, size optimization, and global manufacturing footprint help ensure business success. The inverter is scheduled to be launched in 2024.
